SXSW Preview (Part Two)

Actually, this really sums the trip up for me:

SXSW 09 Preview

These two photos might sum up the whole trip:

It was an amazing time, but exhausting (as Jen so adorably illustrates). I'm trying to upload the rest, but there are like 300.

Life

So I honked at a car on the hennepin avenue bridge today.
They were driving in two lanes and I thought it was just some asshole not paying attention. After I honked they moved further into their lane and as I passed them I saw it was two elderly ladies. I immediately started crying. I felt guilty for honking, and I imagined how annoyed my grandmother would have been had she been honked at. These two women had to be at least 80, maybe even 85...and I think some of the tears were due to the fact that my grandmother was only 67. It feels good to cry, but only a little.
So, in the future I will restrain from honking until I can see who it is.

Dear Ladies,

Of the West Wing club...

you are all adorable beyond words. Thank you so much for the flowers, they are beautiful (as are all of you).

Darlings - (as Lauren loves to say) - you rule. Thank you.

xoxo.

I might need to start paying rent at spyhouse.

so there is going to be a major lack of posting over the next week.  Tomorrow is my last day of work and I will be remitting my computer back to the powers at alwaysBEthere.  Considering I just about spilled my cup of coffee on it that might not be soon enough.  Above is a snap of my desktop.  It normally has that many windows open at once, that's actually not even so bad for me.  I'm a multi-tasker (or I have ADD that is getting worse with age and coffee consumption).

What do I have going on tonight:
1) Two different yahoo email windows open.  One is an email from Nate instructing me to RSVP for a show at sxsw, the other is just all of my messages.
2) A FBook message from Jen about the rental car
3) A frozen priceline.com screen that won't move no matter how many times I refresh it.  Still not sure if I've actually booked our car yet.
4) The American Apparel flea market schedule.  I'm a "tarp monitor" - I hope that means something cool.  I'm not holding my breath.
5) iTunes
6) PerezHilton.com - Robert Pattinson
7) FUCKTHISSOUTHBYUP - RSVPing for some shit
8) sxsw.com
9) more rob.pat.
10) ichat from janessa this morning - that tits photo she took of me this weekend
11) Work (not anymore) email
12) download box for aforementioned AmAp schedule
13) finder box
14) blogger
15) notepad of all the shows I've rsvp'd for thus far
16) desktop photo of christina ricci.  that girl has a fly body...motivation.

there you have it...everything happening on this computer at this moment in time.  I'll miss you computer, we've had some real fun.  hopefully I'll have a new one soon and we'll be just as good of friends.

we rule the world (or at least northeast minneapolis).

one of these days I'm going to give my liver a break.  I tried this past week...the idea was to take the entire week off from drinking.  I think I drank 4/7 days.  So.  yeah.

As my dear friend so eloquently quipped late saturday/early sunday

"Fuck everything.

Except my friends.
and alcohol.
and cigarettes."

I'm going to put family in there too; otherwise I match those sentiments whole-heartedly.

There must be a god

This has nothing to do with the books or the movie.

This has to do with me staring at a beautiful man and feeling completely satisfied.

Esther Eve

Watch it. This bitch is crazy.

Stolen from Michelle and FFFOUND

So Michelle had a bunch of these on her blog last week, and FFFOUND has a bunch up too. Enjoy.

I really don't mean to be a downer.

it's just going to happen though.  I have a ton of emotions flooding through me and I need to do something with them, and the internet seems to be a good way to deal right now.

so my grandparents left last saturday to take a trip south together.  they have a home in arkansas, and a ton of friends who live in various cities/states in the south during the winter.  the sad reality is that this is the last trip like this that my grandparents will be taking together, and they knew it - which is why it was so important to them.

my mom just called to tell me that they're on their way back home - that in the past week my grandmother's health has rapidly deteriorated, to the point where she can't even walk.  she literally can't stand up.  in a matter of a week she has lost a huge amount of mobility and it is really freaking me out.

i had lunch with my grandmother and my mom last week and then went to a movie with them.  i had a hard time talking to my grandmother; for the first time in my life the conversation was a struggle and i was awkward.  the tumor has affected her in ways i can't describe, and it's killing me that my response to it all is a stuttering conversation at the white bear lake movie theatre.  jesus.

so, if i ghost out on life for a while please don't take it personally.  i need to be spending time with her when she's home, and i need to learn to not be awkward and face this.

i am not really sure how to process this, and so i guess i'd like to thank the void that is the internet (and my friends) for letting me get this out there.

Cryphy of Christmas Past

These are from Cryphy a few back...there is a lot of funny shit going on in the background of a lot of these pics. If memory serves me, this is the night a certain Charles T. Tommerdahl (Dude, you remembered my name) took to ladies to the Graves. Or rather, they took him.

Jump. Or. This is where I live

Random night a couple months ago. I don't know what sparked it, but I do know our upstairs neighbor stopped in and started doing it too.

I am still so hyped on this.

Interneting at Spyhouse was so needed tonight. I got through a pile of work, got to listen to some great music, and got some blogging in. Plus I got prank "texted" like a hundred times...and that was pretty fun too.

Listening to this was a great part of the night:
Be still for a second while I try and try to pin your flowers on
Can you carry my drink I have everything else
I can tie my tie all by myself
I’m getting tied, I’m forgetting why

Oh we’re so disarming darling, everything we did believe
is diving diving diving diving off the balcony
Tired and wired we ruin too easy
sleep in our clothes and wait for winter to leave

Hold ourselves together with our arms around the stereo for hours
While it sings to itself or whatever it does
when it sings to itself of its long lost loves
I’m getting tied, I’m forgetting why

Tired and wired we ruin too easy
Sleep in our clothes and wait for winter to leave
But I’ll be with you behind the couch when they come
On a different day just like this one

We’ll stay inside till somebody finds us
Do whatever the TV tells us
Stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz for days
We’ll stay inside till somebody finds us
Do whatever the TV tells us
Stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz

So worry not
All things are well
We’ll be alright
We have our looks and perfume

Stay inside till somebody finds us
Do whatever the TV tells us
Stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz

So worry not
All things are well
We’ll be alright
We have our looks and perfume on

Best Blog of the Week (Take 7)

What a week for the blogs.

Sorry.

Ok, here they are...

Duh:
Sometimes words are better than pictures.
Everything was so right in Michelle's neck of the internet this week:
She's on the list!
This photo alone would have done it...all hail the kneepad. and the vomit.
Best blog of the week is one of my favorite new things to blog about, simply because it gives me an excuse to excessively peruse the blogs of my friends. Ya'll may not know it, but I check in on you (web stalk) you daily. I'd like to see more out of Cody (I know you're busy), Lauren (no excuse) and Sam specifically. Mike - I don't want to IM me tomorrow about not getting nominated...the Plat is killing it, just not hard enough this week.

That being said, there were many stand out blogs to choose from this round. Typoscura offered a lot of promises, let's deliver on those roomie. Michelle offered lots of pretty things to look at, and lots of things to covet; while soggybagel made me laugh (yet again). Let's be real - Ryan's blog has been elevated to new heights now that Mike On Vocals has been introduced to the world; but the real winner this week has to be the one and only WEEZE! Had they removed the line "filled with dicks" there was good potential for Mr. Damiano to take the BBOTW prize again...but they wouldn't concede. Louisa's blog has reached new levels of enjoyable, pictures, prose, and shitty music lists kept me entertained.

Speech.

Sunday Dinner, December 14th, 2008

So we didn't take Sunday Dinner pics last night, since we were at the BLB...I figured I could throw a few more up this morning for all to enjoy...so enjoy!
