mas fotos de AZ

Yesterday Mike and I went to the Tonto Natural Land Bridge. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Today we were supposed to go to the Grand Canyon but that got vetoed...I'm still bitter. Hopefully we do something awesome to make up for it...

Turkey and all that

So I'm down in AZ for Thanksgiving with Mike's family (who I love) and I just thought I'd update the site since Bob (Mike's dad) has one of the largest computer moniters I've ever seen at someones home. He also has the biggest t.v. and largest garage of anyone I know. A little perspective - Bob lives in Payson which is about an hour north of Phoenix. The town has a one-runway airport because most of the residents own their own private plans...which they keep in their "garages" which are pretty much personal airplane hangars.

Anyway...more photos...

M.I.A. OMG

So the M.I.A. show was last night at 1st Ave...Stacy, Sam & I had planned on going only to find out that it was sold out. LAME. In case you don't know (like maybe you live in a cave) MIA kills it. Her music makes you move...her rhythms will make your head explode (and according to Sam she'll turn you into a zombie after she eats your brains).

So yesterday...maybe 4:00ish I get a text message from Sam saying that he is on the list + guests. Because I had already committed to dinner with the family I went into crisis mode thinking I couldn't do both...then I realized it would work perfectly!!! Dinner in Scandia until 9...drive to MPLS...M.I.A.!!! And that is what I did.

What ensued was near perfection (minus Stacy in attendance). The show was amazing...ridiculous...off the charts (that's righ...I said it). I don't know the last show I went to that was so much fun. (I'm sorry Stace - you being stuck at work seems was so lame...not trying to rub this in)!

She was all over the stage, climbing up the stairs and she stopped to sing right in front of us on her way back to the stage. pics coming soon. (I am such a geek).

I wasn't sure I had it in me to hit Foundation for the after party...but I'm hyped we did. The show was done by midnight so we hiked a couple blocks for the most bangingest of after parties. The dj was rad and we were dancing our asses off. Then I noticed Rye Rye up on the foundation stage...and then M.I.A. appeared. Pretty craze dance party (and a Rye Rye performance -short and crazy) escalated my hype to a whole new level.

Looks like extreme weekend spilled over into my week...still not claiming it was too extreme.

p.s. Thanks Sam!

A little too extreme???

So things might have been a little too extreme this weekend...you be the judge (because I certainly won't ever admit to being too extreme). Friday night we did as I said we had and hit the Honeymoons party at the VIP room. Prior to dancing our asses off Jill, Amanda, Kirst, Lisa and I hit Khan's Mongolian BBQ. Not the classiest establishment, but one of my favs. Kirst and Lis bailed (it must be because they're engaged)...and Amanda, Jill and I met up with Sam before heading out. After waiting for over 1/2 hour at the bar, being attacked by an extremely short posse (not downy midges), going the wrong way to defi, and Amanda rolling her ankle we had all we could take. Home by 3:30. Not bad.

Saturday Night (no photos yet). Stacy and I met up with Vanessa and Beth...two lovely (and very tall) friends of Stacy's at Tum Rup Thai for some amazing dinner. Definitely try the fried rice and the pad thai...two thumbs up. Plus they have Sofia Coppola champagne...and who doesn't love that?
We hit TML WAY too early. Don't even bother before midnight...all you get are glow sticks and lame chicks. Once the party got started it was alright...not epic...but good. Quan, Laurie, Sam and other random miscreants made appearances...and then I threw Ben's glowstick on the floor. That's what you get for having a glow stick.
After party ensued...and this is where we maybe got a bit too extreme. Dropping Stacy off meant we made it to the AP by 3...and we stayed until 5. AM. So. All in all...I'm not going to complain. Just one last apology to Mike for waking him up. Sorry.
And finally!!! Crazy Buffet!!!
Just because you have to drive through north (and stop at a scary wendy's with blood on the bathroom floor) to get to the crazy buffet (and home) doesn't mean it isn't worth the drive. Ok...it was kind of worth the drive. The best part were the girls working thought Stacy and I were Russian and they started speaking to us in Russian. These girls were awesome; they not only spoke english, and an asian language; they spoke spanish and russian. God...I stumble through english and spanish.

figure it out on your own

Harsh words you say? Well that's life. Sometimes you've just got to figure shit out on your own...a lot of times that means you learn things the hard way. And a lot of times you can learn from other people and avoid making mistakes; but not always.

So that's my rant. I don't have energy for more than that.

Whatever.

So that's funny.

If you were anything like cool you would have been at the moongoons Honeymoon dance party last night. Since I am something like cool I was there. So was Sam II, Amanda and Jill (the bird). Tonight - if you are something like cool - you should come to First Ave for TML. What's that you say? Two dance parties at the same venue in the same weekend. That's right. FYI...not that it hasn't been fun in the past...but there was something simply wack about Defi last night...hopefully that changes soon. There was also something wack about two chicks trying to verbally accost us in the skyway last night. Don't be haters.

I love art

I'm not kidding. I really love art. I wish I could create amazing. beautiful. engaging. inspiring. grotesque. classic. mind-blowing art. You know who can???
Dawn Candace! Seriously. Her work is amazing. GO SEE IT!
The reason I'm saying this is because she was in the October Art Crawl and the Nixon Art Mosh show...I missed the Art Crawl and didn't get to see her at Art Mosh...but her work sticks with you in a weird way. SO. If you get the chance to get see it (and meet or catch up with her) then do it.

soldier boy...gimmee more

So somehow when Sam comes to town really shitty music gets stuck in my head. Except that I'm kind of hyped on Brit's new music. (and then I shuddered).
just a fyi - if you need something fun to do tonight I think Jess is actually showing some of her own work tonight at the studio...finally!!!

I may or may not be rocking out at too much love tonight...when the cat's away the mice will play. Apparently a post-party of secret epic proportions is to ensue. I guess I'll just have to report back.

Last secret party of epic proportions:

not quite sure who the chick with Sam/Mike is...but hey...she was there.

All the posts you don't post

Let's keep it lighthearted - right? It's what you're good at.

Go Wolves. Oops. Season opener in T-Minus 52 minutes. Hope that Neil, Mike and Sean are having fun. I'm supposed to be running right now; but it isn't working out so well. Jen/Katie/Stace...here I come.
