It's not what you do...

This has been the theme of '08 and I like that it's continuing as planned. If anyone has any doubts that this summer is going to be the best ever - call me. I'll convince you otherwise.

Here are a few reasons why this summer is going to rule:
This chick is going to be here and we're going to cause trouble. Watch out June 10th - 17th. That's your DNA.

My bicycle has a water bottle holder. It conveniently doubles as a wine bottle holder. June 15th.

This
dude's band is blowing up and you'll be at their cd release party. Get ready to listen to them and then dance to some major jams.

This dude is coming to visit and we're going to get into all kinds of shennanigans. Least of all this.

I think I have a new home for the summer (or maybe I'll just have three homes for the summer). That will involve a lot of time with my ladies and the beach.

Tip of the iceberg my friends. I honestly don't think you'll be able to handle how great this summer is shaping up to be. I just don't think you can compute it. The list is going to continue, make yourself a part of it.

Hijacked...and other crafty means...

So I'm going to miss Rilo Kiley, Do It To It, Now Now Every Children, Snowden, Tim Rally Gold, Soundset (and afterparty) this weekend. That is disappointment in epic proportions.

I will be having a fabulous time in Missoula, hopefully eating some amazing food, and congratulating an amazing dude for finishing college. I will also be back just in time for Sunday dinner and a special after-edition to wish my darling girl a proper farewell.

I won't be missing M83!!! Thank you to Sam and John for that. (John for introducing me to M83, and Sam for letting me hijack his other ticket). So psyched...I may have texted M83! M83! M83! a few times to Sam this morning and I may be listening to them right now. I also won't be missing Fleet Foxes! There is an epic weekend in July I'm gearing up for - and they will be a part of it.

Things I will not be doing in the future:
-smoking.
-drunken texting.
-falling off my bike.
-missing any more good shows.
-talking shit (only blogging shit from now on).

Please help me with those things. The list might get longer.

I didn't pay anyone to write this...

This is a beautiful photo for a number of reasons and I'm extra hyped on this beautiful day that it was emailed to me by the lovely Jessica. Thank you. Bring me up when I feel down.

I think we all need a nap...that or muppet prison love

My eyes are killing me and it's not even 11. Another week down and another successful Sunday in the bag. And I think tomorrow night is set to be pretty decent...as long as I've got my radar gun. I'm actually so tired right now it is difficult to concentrate on what I'm typing...that and my tv/movie A.D.D. is in full effect. So Saturday night included a lovely convo with Dawn Candace, whose work was up at Fox Taxes as part of the whole Art-A-Whirl extravaganza.

...picking back up on Monday morning since the computer blew up in my lap last night...
my level of clarity is a lot higher than last night, so this all might make some sense? So after Fox I went to the BH for a Wisconsin themed party featuring amazing cheese curds and The Rusty P's. Pretty chill. Headed out to work for a little bit and then made it over to Stasiu's to hear they musical stylings of shoreline. Went home only to get a call from Sam asking me to come back to Stasiu's and pick him up. Thanks d-bag.

Bonus: Ran into Lara at the bar and she gave me the raddest compliment ever. (I quote) "You look so good tonight - I swear, I always love what you're wearing. You should make a book about minneapolis style and just put yourself in it."
Now, if you know me well you're probably laughing right now (and I don't blame you). My stylistic tendencies range from pirate (I've been known to wear a lot of boots and scarves) to plain as hell (don't knock a t-shirt and jeans). Just in case you're wondering what I was wearing...I can't find any pictures (sorry Damian) so I'll have to describe it:
- a short black t shirt dress
- grey tights
- black booties (the ones Sarah hates)
- a new t I'm psyched on from Anti-Beautiful
- a rust vest
- gold killers in my ears
- a green rat tail

so there you have it. but - I will say, I got mad compliments on that outfit...I even got one this morning from someone who saw me on Saturday. That's mega.

Pictures!

A Donkey Punch, 6 voicemails, and 13 minutes, 21 seconds of lameness

I was reminded today of a few of the things that motivate me. The list (while not created by me) was surprisingly (or not surprisingly) accurate - and first on it was friends. I had an insane day at work and pretty much couldn't wait to break out. Called up the lovely JK and made a date for drinks and food. It was discovered/remembered that her ID is not currently in her possession, so the genius that is two people thinking clearly realized she could use her passport. I don't verify IDs for a living or anything. No, that would make sense.

As we were noshing on queso fundido and I was hammering down a bloody I realized what a good friend can do to swing your mood - I actually had that realization multiple times today. As Ms. Nielsen joined us we just got goofy...and I had to order (not receive) a donkey punch. For the record, there is nothing wrong with walking down the street heckling your friends. Finally, I get to my transient living station only to find a hilarious image of TG and Esther in full cuddle session. As we recapped our days we were joined by the lovely Cyn who wow-ed me with tales of times long ago (or from last year). Scandalous! Finally, I just got off the phone with Sam who berated me for being so lame. I was all wrapped up in a pink blanket and sweats, totally ready to call it a night with Bowie and Labyrinth when he called me out on my lame ways. So here I am. Writing a blog when I should be getting ready for the Triple Double. He can yell at me when he gets here.

Thanks friends. You're great.

Trivial...I know...

It's really hard for me to bitch when I look at the grand scheme of things (cyclones, wars, the AIDS epidemic, human rights violations) but to be a completely honest and self-centered person for a minute...those things don't touch me or affect me on a daily basis. I few people (self included) had a shitty day yesterday. I have a bruise on my leg to prove it. My car was ticketed, it was in fact, it was set to be towed (thank you Tucker for alerting me to the situation). I had to work until 8, then I had to go back to work at 10. Then Sam got hit by a car. Yeah. That's right. Sam was hit by a car...he was in the bike lane riding down Hennepin on a green and some idiot turned into him - threw him from his bike, cut his leg, and jacked his arm. The first thing she said to him, "Are you drunk?" What a bitch. Also - Esther decided to projectile vomit all over Tucker and his car.

So yeah. We had bad days. But I'm pretty sure in the grand scheme of things I don't have much to bitch about. So I'm going to stop. Ranting and raving that is. Thanks for letting me get it out. I'm sorry there's so much fucked up shit in this world - I'm going to try to pay more attention to that. It's all about perspective.

Blowing It...or Am I?

Whoa...it's been a week since I last posted my rants, raves, and random thoughts...interesting. I'm trying to decide if I'm blowing it, or if I am in fact doing the exact opposite of blowing it by living pretty hard? So hard that I don't have time to post? You decide.

I'm in a custody battle right now for the card reader (a battle I will rightfully lose) and since I haven't bought one of my own I can't post any pictures to prove that I've actually been doing stuff lately. Stuff being:
-Trying to get ahold of Josh Hartnett
-Finding out Josh Hartnett is filming a movie out of the country on May 31st
-Googling "
naked sushi minneapolis"
-Suggesting to others that "R rated" hypnotists are cooler than magicians; when in reality neither are really that cool
-Bartending at the
Todd Bratrud (and that other guy) Volcom Art show at Umber
-Getting drunk at the Todd Bratrud (and that other guy) Volcom Art show at Umber
-
Ante Up
-Get CRYPHY VIP...running into some peeps...going to Hotel...running into more peeps
-Iced chais, puppy dog tails, and pedis on the porch = Sunday bliss
-Sunday dinner and the mysterious disappearance of trash mountain...watch out for broken glass on 1st...and a broken fence...

So life has been getting in the way of the blog. Whatever. Who cares?
