Rollin through some Gangstas

As foretold yesterday and last night reached levels of supreme epicosity.

The day started innocently enough...BonBon and I wanted to hang out but we couldn't decide between the mall, the science museum, or the historical society (I'm not kidding). We decided that while it was a big risk the mall probably had fewest children and the most food options. For the most part we were right...until this pretty adorable toddler who had been laughing and running around near us while we were eating ice cream just sat down and started screaming. Then we left.

We went to UpSix which is one of our favorite vintage shops in town. Meghan was working and she told us to check out the new sneaker shop next door. We walked into sneaker heaven. It was the grand opening party and Bonni promptly won a pair of kicks and I scored a t. I also purchased some new sneaks...they will be debuted when all this snow melts. Anyway...below is a picture of the millenium falcon that Meghan has in the shop. I'm pretty jealous.

We then went to the liquor store and met Rocco. I normally don't like small dogs, but this one just sits on top of the counter and acts adorable. Then his owner convinced us to by a giant bottle of champagne (see below). I think it's some sort of trick...
Bonni and Jumbo. Bonni & Kyle's record collection. If they both die it's bequeathed to me.

Still life. Or a party's about to pop.

I'm not trying to brag...but I took that down one handed...

and then it took me down.

JC or Laurie? you decide.

Bonnilicious and I met up with folks...and then we collectively met up with more folks at the Red Stag Supper Club. I heart the Lambrusco. Sparkling reds are so underrated.

I love night time shots of lights...and the Hennepin Ave Bridge makes a great subject.

Then things got real. We hit TML at First Ave. I haven't been to Too Much Love in quite a while...I've been sorely disapointed in the crowd the past few months (yes - I am a snob - and i don't like to hang out with 18-21 year olds). There are very few exceptions to that rule...and since TML is 18+ it can be whacked out at times. Last night there were some whacked out under-agers...but I think we rolled with a deep enough crowd that it didn't bother me.

Little E and Cynth showing love at the Love.

Big T. Who is neither big, nor the weirdest dancer in the room.

I thought if I took a photo of this dude while he was trying to "dance up on me" (as the kids say) he would get embarrassed and stop. He didn't.

I have no idea what Laurie was pointing at...all I know is that it distracted me from noticing this chicks jacket until I was looking through photos. Thank you Sam for snapping this flick...Priceless.

I absolutly love taking photos of people making out. You might not be able to see it - but these two both had big X marks on their hands. Of course they did. Also - she noticed I was taking pictures of them - so she grabbed his hat, put it on, and covered her face.
Do you think she's had this happen before?

The dude in the pink wins the award for most energy last night. Hands down.

This is why I shouldn't drink enormous bottles of champagne. Someone starts to finger-bang.

And then it becomes a threesome. Before you know it - someone is going to lose an eye.

A little too extreme???

So things might have been a little too extreme this weekend...you be the judge (because I certainly won't ever admit to being too extreme). Friday night we did as I said we had and hit the Honeymoons party at the VIP room. Prior to dancing our asses off Jill, Amanda, Kirst, Lisa and I hit Khan's Mongolian BBQ. Not the classiest establishment, but one of my favs. Kirst and Lis bailed (it must be because they're engaged)...and Amanda, Jill and I met up with Sam before heading out. After waiting for over 1/2 hour at the bar, being attacked by an extremely short posse (not downy midges), going the wrong way to defi, and Amanda rolling her ankle we had all we could take. Home by 3:30. Not bad.

Saturday Night (no photos yet). Stacy and I met up with Vanessa and Beth...two lovely (and very tall) friends of Stacy's at Tum Rup Thai for some amazing dinner. Definitely try the fried rice and the pad thai...two thumbs up. Plus they have Sofia Coppola champagne...and who doesn't love that?
We hit TML WAY too early. Don't even bother before midnight...all you get are glow sticks and lame chicks. Once the party got started it was alright...not epic...but good. Quan, Laurie, Sam and other random miscreants made appearances...and then I threw Ben's glowstick on the floor. That's what you get for having a glow stick.
After party ensued...and this is where we maybe got a bit too extreme. Dropping Stacy off meant we made it to the AP by 3...and we stayed until 5. AM. So. All in all...I'm not going to complain. Just one last apology to Mike for waking him up. Sorry.
And finally!!! Crazy Buffet!!!
Just because you have to drive through north (and stop at a scary wendy's with blood on the bathroom floor) to get to the crazy buffet (and home) doesn't mean it isn't worth the drive. Ok...it was kind of worth the drive. The best part were the girls working thought Stacy and I were Russian and they started speaking to us in Russian. These girls were awesome; they not only spoke english, and an asian language; they spoke spanish and russian. God...I stumble through english and spanish.

Best Summer Ever

What to say? Crazy weekend...thanks to the Chicago & Iowa house guests for making it fun...you are all welcome to come and stay any time. Thanks to Billy for buying coffee (and the cab), Jeremiah for telling me about the grossest porn I've ever seen, and Steve for wearing the tighest and baggiest pants all in one weekend. Sam...thanks for being Sam. OCD and all.

I heard that the ramp jam was amazing (great weather, skateboarding and free beer...I wonder why people had a good time)? Yea to Luke for pulling it all together year after year...and thanks to Dusty for hosting the after party. Even though I only made it for a total of 30 minutes this time around it was fun.

Not to back track too much...and speaking of too much...
I haven't been able to rant and rave about the big let down that too much love was a couple weeks ago. If you know me you know I love TML...but I don't think it's the same anymore. I guess all good things must come to and end...since it is now officially Autumn I guess we have to let go of Best Summer Ever...but man was it good.

I also didn't have a chance to rant and rave (in a good way) about our house warming party last weekend and the most amazing Sunday ever. Tuck, Stace, Mike, Sam II and I all got coffee, then mexican food, then more coffee and finally we went for a bike ride through downtown, over to calhoun and back with a couple pit stops in between. You honestly couldn't ask for a better day.

Thanks for the memories BEST SUMMER EVER...it was nice to know you...

Bourne Again

You can be a lot of different "Born Agains"
You can be a Born Again Virgin
You can be a Born Again Christian
But You can't be Jason Bourne.

Simply put, that was the most ass-kicking movie I've seen in a long time...maybe even ever (and I've seen all of the Terminators. Go see this movie. If you haven't seen the first two stop reading this. Go rent them. Then go see Bourne Ultimatum. Duh.

Yeah! Sam's back in town (though rather briefly). He thinks Bourne was ass-kicking too.
I'm trying to guilt-trip Sam into coming to Too Much Love this weekend. Is it working?

This weekend is set to be action packed yet again. Heading to Jerry's 30th Birthday Party at Town Talk Diner in a minute (and maybe to Electro Bowl after)? Tomorrow is Christina's going away party. Saturday is the Huf5 Shoe Release Party hosted by Familia...and TML...and my brother will be around...and it's also Little John's going away party. OMG my calendar is booked. Also on Saturday Stacey & I are about to test El Pati's (on West 7th on the other side of the river) ChileQuieles. They better be dope.

Oh yeah...a special Estonian is back in town...wonder who that could be?

BLOCKED

So I think I'm blocked from blogging at work...lame. I know blogger has been weird lately - but besides that the only time I'm able to log in is from computers other than my laptop at work. Harsh.

So...I don't give a shit. Awesome.

Sadly enough my family reunion has been cancelled because family members are dealing with different illnesses, which makes me wonder why aren't we having a family reunion? You never know how short life can be and it's important to keep connections while you can. I guess that's out of my control though.

Anyway - it sounds like this weekend is shaping up nicely. My brother is going to be around Saturday which should be fun. All kinds of awesome stuff is going down...or up? Though this week (especially Wednesday) has been all around awful it looks like Saturday will be exeptionally enjoyable. Pizza Luce (oh how I love thee mashed potato pizza) is hosting their annual shindig and the one and only Familia is hosting the Huf 5 shoe release on top of that. Can we handle all of that? If you haven't checked out the new Familia website you're dumb. And since pretty much only TG & TC read this I know you have. So I guess you're not dumb...And of course - since it's a Saturday an appearance at TML is in order. If you don't know what TML is you suck...or you don't read my blog which means you suck.

So there you have it. Nothing fancy...just an update on everything you should (or could) be doing this weekend.
