Britain Rules

So I have recently become obsessed with the show Britain's Got Talent...via YouTube.

I can't embed many of the videos, but seriously, do yourself a favor and start watching that shit.

A couple to start with:
-Flawless - a dance group
-Diversity - another dance group
-Stavros Flatly

Here's one I found:
-Michael Jackson - Suleman Mirza

This shit is amazing, hilarious, and stupid cool.

Also, watch the "Ferrero Roche" one if you want to feel awkward.

Some awesome things about this show besides the performers:
1) Piers claps along to performers and he's always off-beat.
2) There are two hosts who pretty much just stand in the wings and yell and laugh
3) British people are really funny to listen to when they speak.

a haze of purses and shoes.

All I can say is one man's hell is another roomie's heaven.
Bonni knows what's up.

Things alcohol made me forget:

1. How I got this scratch/bump on my nose. If anyone has the answer, PLEASE tell me. I know I fell down last night, but that was on my ass, not my face.

2. How I got from First Ave to Crista & Caitlin's. I'm pretty sure we took a cab. Pretty sure.

3. How many beers I drank at the CC? And, did I buy Bram's second beer? I said I would. Bram, I think I owe you a beer...

4. I don't like menthol cigarettes. (but I smoked them).

5. Sending like a bazillion text messages. How do I know I sent a bazillion? I looked at my inbox this morning and had text response I didn't remember, so I checked my sent messages. I accidentally deleted some of them, but here is a fairly decent recap:

10:45(ish):
Me to Bonni...
I don't know where it's at.
10:46:
I am not going. Tucker said it was dirty and smelly.
10:48:
Look at me, I'm so clinical now.

I was talking about going to B.E.E.R.S.
I didn't know where it was at.
Tucker did NOT tell me that it was dirty and/or smell.
I don't know what "I'm so clinical" means.

11:02pm:
Me to Tucker...
Where you at roomie?
11:03pm:
Me to Mike...
Yo dunny. Where you at?
11:04pm:
Me to Ryan...
P.S. Jerk.
11:05pm
Me to Tucker...
Hmmm. Trying to get there.

I was still at Voltage at this time, so I have no idea why I was so concerned with where everyone was and what they were doing. Sorry for calling you a jerk Ryan, it's cool though, you were drunk too.

Skip to 1:00am (and add at least 7 alcoholic beverages to the half a bottle of champagne and two stoli tonics I've already ingested).
Me to Sarah...
hahaha
1:07am
haha. At cc.
1:21am
Get here. They are asking about you.
1:38am
What!!! Lame o!
1:40am
You should have come here!
Hahaha. Me too. I wish you were here!

A few things I can surmise from these sent messages:
Sarah is obviously a very funny person (see all the 'hahaha' lines)
I wanted to be hanging out with Sarah between the hours of 1:00am and 1:40am but was not.
I was wasted.

11:27am
Me to Kemi...
I think I am dead.
Coffee.

95 pictures at uptown diner

so last night was one of my top 3 nights of drunken-ness (according to sam). It must have been, because I took 95 pictures at the uptown diner.
Started at this:

Hung out with these babes:

Dressed to kill:

Went to Caitlin's birthday at Caitlin & Crista's. Oddly, not photographic evidence of that.

Went to the CC:
and then fell on my ass outside of Botsy's friend's car. Like fell down. Hard.

then took 95 pictures at the uptown diner. here are 15 of them:

the end.

Let's Dance Recap

I didn't bring my camera to let's dance, so here's a quick textual recap:

1) Jameson + Crispin Brut = AMAZING
2) Tip Tap Dancer (or some version of that title) is my theme song
3) If you can say Iambic Pentameter you haven't had enough to drink

Last night was great. Too much to drink, tons of friends, and great music made the night a solid 8 (since there is no such thing as a 10).

The entire night felt like it lasted 15 minutes, which meant I must have had a great time.

At one point I tried to get a bunch of people to leave the stag and come to my place. I think I went up to like six different people, and was like - hey, let's go. let's get out of here. blah blah blah. then when a couple people started asking me if we were having an after-party I promptly stopped asking people to come up. so yeah. that's what drunk gets you.

I ended up in a manwich last night which sounds kind of dirty, and trust, it is.

ok, it's not dirty.

except for the fact that I had a dude in my bed who hasn't showered in 18 days. 14 if you count jumping into a pool a shower. which i dont.
thanks sam and cutty for the entertaining bedtime mumbles. you both rule. thanks to fryman for hitting the couch hard. it's been a long time since we had a slumber party and it made me laugh.

that's it. terrible recap, I know. but I'm hungover and at easter. so take what you can get.

300...and more SXSW

So this is my 300th post...is that monumental in any way? It is a round number. Just thought I'd mention it.

Either way - here are a few more SXSW pics...a bit random...but I don't have time right now to continue with the next day. There are way to many flicks, and the need to go up in a chronological order so as to impress and intrigue.

Casualty of the road (graphic):

Pretty garden we wandered into for a minute:

No, really. Don't mess with Texas:

Soccer mom? Or after a long day working at AmAp sale...these are my boys:

BOTW...it's back...

So I skipped out on Blog of the Week (or Best Blog of the Week) for a few weeks. I'm sorry, but I'm glad to say it's back! I'd really love to go back to the couple weeks I missed and give you my opinion, but I'm just too lazy today.

Since I'm not working on a mac today this will be a little less fancy than the last few...no pics to accompany my votes...but we'll get back there one day.

1) The lovely Kyndra has enticed me with her happenings over in her corner of the internet.

2) A fan favorite makes a return to the nominee list. Her gifs are nothing short of magical.

3) Simply because she wanted to hear "I'll be damned." aloud.

4) The Plat. Frankenplus Locs and a crazed book review. Yes please.

5) Content out the window! Thanks for the updates from the future.

6) Straight craziest content...and NOT in a good way. Please don't tell me it's amputated.

7) I'm just going to say it - this nominee isn't the winner this week, but they still deserved a mention. Thanks for keeping the laughs coming. I feel both awkward and amusing when it happens at work.

This week I'd like to call out Sam (again) as having a lack of content. You've got a laptop friend, let's start using it. I'd like to add Crista Bell to the call out list. One week ago isn't bad...but you can do better.

Also - I really did like what Dusick had to offer in terms of the "Down Periscope" movie review...but one post per week will not win you this highly coveted award.

So...now that I've let you know what's been amusing me (or horrifying me) all week; the winner of

BEST BLOG OF THE WEEK

goes to our foreign correspondent, CODY.

I miss you girl. Keep the cherry blossoms coming.

SXSW (Numero Cuatro)...Safe for Work

Goodbye Minneapolis:

Hello Austin:

Backstory:
So we drove to Texas, ya'll heard about that.

Pit Stop #1:

(We forgot to take a picture of Sam).
You maybe heard that we stopped for a drink on the drive down? After scrounging the streets of Kansas City, KS for a bar we crossed the river and found paradise (or cheap beer and tight spandex) at Buddies in Kansas City, MO.

Buddies was literally one of two bars (the other bar was right next door, but had a two drink minimum) that we could find, so we pulled off to grab a pitcher. After some TLC and Dolly Parton on the juke box we were on our way. Once outside, a very friendly gentleman asked Nate, "Do you know how to lay pipe?" So that ruled.

Drove through the night, and had my first McGriddle:

Co-Pilot. Looking like a pile.

We arrived on Wednesday, and once we'd checked into the hotel and dropped Jenn and Eric off at their friend's joint Nate, Sam and I decided to just walk around and check shit out. I don't really remember if we did anything else that night, because we had to work at like 7:30 the next morning.
***I just typed the above "I don't know if we did anything..." sentence and then looked at my pics. Forgot. We did stuff.

We ate some dope Mexican food and walked around town for a couple hours. I had read about this place last year, and wanted to go there, but was too full when I found it.

We went to this bar (I forget the name - sam?) in the cuts. 1808 was maybe the name. Saw some music,

and then we met this guy as we were leaving. He was in the next band performing (maybe)

and he pulled Sam and Nate into their "get hyped" circle. As you can see, it was a large circle;

and there was a man with a saxophone who would play a riff between "get hyped" speeches.
Then we went to the hotel and slept. Sam tried to get me to spoon him. Every night. Perv.

Thursday:
We were Champions on Thursday. Killed it.
Worked our lives away, and then decided to drink our lives away.

Met up with these guys and these guys

at this thing.

Then we decided it was time to get off-the-charts-awesome at the Fools Gold party:

I'll let you figure that photo out.
We skipped a line of like 400 people (magic), got $3 Red Stripes, and then danced on stage. At 2 they shut down the bar, and then re-opened at 2:30, for free.
After Chris Brown (Sam Cassidy) attacked me and made me go home at 4something a.m. I felt like we had succeeded at life.
We overslept the next day and were escorted to the bus stop by the police (because of our sketchy neighborhood), and we showed up to the Am Ap sale like 2 hours late they let us not work in the morning. So instead we did this:
French Legation:

The French Legation was one of my favorite spots in Austin. A Legation is like an embassy (although the term Legation hasn't really been used since WWII). I learned all of that from Wiki.
This spot is the oldest framed structure in Austin (I learned that from Sam). It also was host to some pretty amazing outdoor music jams. We went over there to check out Here We Go Magic and ended up burning our hangovers away in the sun.

More of our magical trip up soon...
