SXSW (Numero Cuatro)...Safe for Work

Goodbye Minneapolis:

Hello Austin:

Backstory:
So we drove to Texas, ya'll heard about that.

Pit Stop #1:

(We forgot to take a picture of Sam).
You maybe heard that we stopped for a drink on the drive down? After scrounging the streets of Kansas City, KS for a bar we crossed the river and found paradise (or cheap beer and tight spandex) at Buddies in Kansas City, MO.

Buddies was literally one of two bars (the other bar was right next door, but had a two drink minimum) that we could find, so we pulled off to grab a pitcher. After some TLC and Dolly Parton on the juke box we were on our way. Once outside, a very friendly gentleman asked Nate, "Do you know how to lay pipe?" So that ruled.

Drove through the night, and had my first McGriddle:

Co-Pilot. Looking like a pile.

We arrived on Wednesday, and once we'd checked into the hotel and dropped Jenn and Eric off at their friend's joint Nate, Sam and I decided to just walk around and check shit out. I don't really remember if we did anything else that night, because we had to work at like 7:30 the next morning.
***I just typed the above "I don't know if we did anything..." sentence and then looked at my pics. Forgot. We did stuff.

We ate some dope Mexican food and walked around town for a couple hours. I had read about this place last year, and wanted to go there, but was too full when I found it.

We went to this bar (I forget the name - sam?) in the cuts. 1808 was maybe the name. Saw some music,

and then we met this guy as we were leaving. He was in the next band performing (maybe)

and he pulled Sam and Nate into their "get hyped" circle. As you can see, it was a large circle;

and there was a man with a saxophone who would play a riff between "get hyped" speeches.
Then we went to the hotel and slept. Sam tried to get me to spoon him. Every night. Perv.

Thursday:
We were Champions on Thursday. Killed it.
Worked our lives away, and then decided to drink our lives away.

Met up with these guys and these guys

at this thing.

Then we decided it was time to get off-the-charts-awesome at the Fools Gold party:

I'll let you figure that photo out.
We skipped a line of like 400 people (magic), got $3 Red Stripes, and then danced on stage. At 2 they shut down the bar, and then re-opened at 2:30, for free.
After Chris Brown (Sam Cassidy) attacked me and made me go home at 4something a.m. I felt like we had succeeded at life.
We overslept the next day and were escorted to the bus stop by the police (because of our sketchy neighborhood), and we showed up to the Am Ap sale like 2 hours late they let us not work in the morning. So instead we did this:
French Legation:

The French Legation was one of my favorite spots in Austin. A Legation is like an embassy (although the term Legation hasn't really been used since WWII). I learned all of that from Wiki.
This spot is the oldest framed structure in Austin (I learned that from Sam). It also was host to some pretty amazing outdoor music jams. We went over there to check out Here We Go Magic and ended up burning our hangovers away in the sun.

More of our magical trip up soon...

also: props on us for standing tallest to shortest outside Buddie's Bar in KC. I'm also psyched you got that pic of those 12 year old girls at the Silhouette party. Maybe you should go outside your Public Passion realm and add one of those photos on here from that night? after all, that was a part of Austin too.

haha!
